House update

Well things are going slower with our townhouse and they are a bit behind. We now will be  moving in sometime in August and they said around the end. So that means an AMAZING birthday present to me! We go down once a week to see the progress and it is so fun! The framing is now almost complete they just need to finish the roof then everything should go quickly from there!! :)

I can't contain my excitement!!

We are so close to the mountains and this is our view from where our dining table will be. It is such a beautiful area!!

Alex and I in our future bedroom!!

It is finally starting to feel real now that there is an actual building that we can go through! This whole process is so fun!

who knew

The other day Alex and I were talking about how many times we crossed eachothers paths while growing up. I remember when I was younger I would always say I wonder when I will cross my husbands path or if I ever knew who he was. Well some of the times that Alex and I could think of were:

He would run past my house down to one of my neighbors and my mom would be outside mowing the lawn and would smile and wave at him. Little did he or she know that they were waving to their future in law.

One time I was at my friend Chelsea's house and we were walking around the neighborhood and Alex was riding his bike around and was chasing a cat. I remember Chelsea and I getting mad at him for trying to hit the cat! ha

I was at Danielle's birthday party in middle school and Alex came over with my neighbor to play night games. We both had know idea who each other were but I remember thinking "hey this boy is really cute"

Then we were in spanish class together and both thought each other were cute and we just wrote notes back and forth and I was SOOO incredibly shy I would give him the note then run away down the hallway. He didn't know that this shy little 8th grader would one day be his wife. But I remember always thinking "i'm going to marry this kid" I always thought it was just the little girl in me saying I was going to marry him, little did I know it would really happen one day. :)

It is so fun to think of all the times we could have crossed each others paths. There are many more that could have been because our families used to go to a lot of the same places but we never knew if we crossed paths then.

OUR house!!

About 5 or 6 months ago Alex and I started to look at houses. We had found a townhome that we loved  but it would not be done being built until August which at the time would be perfect for us but we could not sign a contract at the time because the building had not been released yet. So during the time that we were waiting the price kept on increasing and so once it got close to our max we decided to opt out of it which was a big bummer.

Then the search continued and we looked at a bunch of other townhomes and houses but didn't find one we loved. A couple weeks went by and we went with our realtor to a couple more and we had a house and a townhouse that we absolutely loved! We weighed out the pros and the cons of each and decided that the townhouse was more of what we were looking for. So that following Monday we were going to put in an offer on the townhouse but right before we were going to go down..... somebody else came and signed on it. So in the same complex we looked at another one,  and decided we would do that. Then again right when we came to sign somebody else got there before us. So 3rd time was the charm, they had another unit that they would release in a couple of weeks and they guaranteed us that they would save it for us. So the day they released the property we went down and were in contract to build!!!!!! We were so excited and so thankful that everything was working out because we really loved the area and we knew it would be a great place to raise a family.

So we are building a townhouse in centerville and it is perfect! We went to the design center about a month ago and picked everything which was so much fun, everyone told us this was the hardest part but Alex and I knew exactly what we wanted when we went in so it was pretty easy and we got everything we wanted!

They broke ground this past week and then next week is foundation!!

We will be in our home either end of July or beginning of August! We are SOOO excited to not be renting anymore and to have a place that is just ours. It will be so fun to make tons of memories there and knowing that this is the place that we will start to raise a little family.

I'm not good at this blogging thing....

I have been slacking majorly on this blogging thing. So here is a little update on what we have been up to these past couple of months.

My sweet nephew Nixon was born on February 13, 2013 and was a month early but healthy as can be! I got a text when I got to work that my sister in law Kendra was at the hospital and that they were admitting her! I was sooo excited but was sad that I was at work and thought I would miss the moment that he was born, with most of my nieces and nephews I have been at the hospital when they have been born, so the anticipation was killing me! I was constantly checking my phone to see if this sweet little boy had been born but the end of the day had come and still no text. So after work I hurried over to the hospital so I could be there when he was born he was being very stubborn and came around 7:00. Hayden was so excited to be a big brother! When we told him that Nixon was born he ran over to the door to listen to see if he could hear him cry and when he did he got the biggest smile on his face! When he saw him for the first time he could not stop giving him kisses it was the sweetest thing ever! I am obsessed with this little boy, he brings so much joy into our lives and we are so excited that he is finally here!

My brother Jordan got married! I have another amazing sister in law and 2 more adorable nephews! Their wedding was so beautiful and they had the funniest ceremony ever! They pretty much have a set of twins because my niece Lily is one day older that James. But during the ceremony James kissed Lily and then just started doing his dance moves in the middle of the aisle it was pretty much the funniest thing ever! I am so glad that my brother and Cherice found eachother they are perfect for eachother in every way. She is such an amazing mom to both her kids and to Jordans it's amazing to see two families come into one. We are so blessed to have 2 new nephews and Cherice into our family they fit so perfectly!

I have been pretty sick for the past couple months and have had terrible stomach pains every time I eat so I went to the doctor and had a bunch of tests done and they figured out that it was my gallbladder and that I would have to have it removed. I was terrified to have surgery, so the doctor gave me some medicane to prolong the surgery so I could make it until spring break so I didn't have to miss any work. Well spring break rolled around and it was time for surgery. I was absolutely terrified and could not stop crying whenever I thought about it. Well the morning of surgery my sweet husband and dad gave me a blessing which gave me peace going into the hospital. I did really good up until I had to give Alex and kiss and they rolled me away.Waking up from surgery was terrible! All I remember was crying because I was in so much pain. For all of you who know me I am a pretty happy and easy going person, after anesthesia I certainly was not!! I was so grumpy anything the nurses, Alex, or my mom would say I would snap at them! I asked the nurse if I could have a drink and they gave me some diet coke. After that it was like magic I was pretty much back to my normal self. The nurse was like "We should have given this to her along time ago!" :/ haha soon after that I was able to go home because I was not in much pain. This surgery was so easy and it pretty much only took me 2 days to recover and then I was back to normal.

Lately

Summer....

Was so much fun! Here are a few things that we did.

While school was out I nannied for my boss! Which was great. It's nice to have a change up from the school I work at and then in the summer to nannying. I was able to go to Seattle this summer with the family I nanny for which was so much fun! It was definitely an adventure. I met the family down there with one of the children later on in the week and they went down a couple days before. We were in the San Juan Islands, which is absolutely beautiful!!!

Later on in the summer we were able to go to Las Vegas with Danielle and Kurtis to visit Alex's dad. It was so much fun and very very hot. We went to see Blue Man Group which was amazing! It was so funny and kept the audience involved the entire time, definitely recommend seeing that show if you go to Vegas. We went on the New York New York roller coaster, swam... ALOT and ate amazing food, my father in law is one amazing cook. It was much needed time spent with family and friends. It's always so hard to say goodbye to Alex's dad but luckily we go see him a lot.

Lately...

Alex and I were living with my parents which was great! We loved being there and spending time with family. But, recently we decided that it was time to move out. So we got an apartment which we absolutely love! It's so fun to be on our own again. We were opening all of our boxes of all of our stuff and it felt like christmas all over again because we had not seen our stuff for 5 months. It has been fun redecorating and making it home! Pictures to come.

We all know my luck with cars, well this summer my car decided to be VERY difficult. Every month the expenses to fix it just kept piling up. We were fed up with fixing my car so we decided that it was time to get me a new car. We met my grandpa who is a salesman down at Larry H Miller and started looking at cars. Alex and I fell in love with a brand new 2012 ford focus so there we started the car buying process, and WE GOT IT!  We absolutely love our new car and it is so nice not having to worry about it breaking down on me. Let's hope my bad luck with cars ends now.

One year married to my best friend.

Holy Cow time flies by soooo dang fast!!! has it really been a year?! This has been the best year of my entire life. We have grown so much closer to one another and have created a bond that can never be broken.

Alex is the most amazing husband that I can ever ask for. He is so caring, so sincere, so loving, very understanding, hard working, honorable, dependable, passionate, selfless, an absolute gentleman, BEST husband ever, and such an incredible man and very very handsome.  I have never met someone that is like him. He is definitely one of a kind and I wonder everyday how I got so lucky to have him be my husband, for me to be able to call him mine. All mine.

We have made so many great memories in this first year of marriage that we will never forget. I look forward to all of the new memories to come in the next years and look forward to all the anniversaries to come.

I am so very grateful for the temple and that we were able to be sealed to one another for time and all eternity. I love knowing that I have this incredible man by my side through everything.

Here is our video of the temple. I love watching this and remembering this special day. This was the most amazing day of my life. The day I become Mrs. Walz. Enjoy :)

I love you so much babe and am so very grateful to have such an amazing husband like you to be by my side through thick and thin.

We both look forward to the next year and all the new memories to look forward to and what is in store for our family.

one AMAZING year.

I can not believe it is June already and that we are so close to our one year anniversary!!! I remember the whole thing like it was yesterday and counting down the days until we got married. As I look back on this past year we have made some great memories! Some of my favorite are:

The day we got married.
The most amazing day EVER!! I remember waking up and could not believe that June 11 was FINALLY here. That I was finally going to be married to my best friend, the most amazing man ever!! I was so excited that Alex Walz was finally going to be my husband, not my fiance, not my boyfriend but my husband!! I had a hard time transitioning from calling him my fiance to my husband. Someone came and walked through our line and I introduced him as my fiance :/ [oops].

Our Honeymoon.
So we did not know where we were going to for our honeymoon until the night of our wedding. Alex's dad surprised us, so when we were leaving he handed us an envelope that had our plane tickets and the hotel reservations in it. Nobody knew where we were going until Alex had checked in on facebook at which airport we were at, which was really fun because everyone was waiting to find out. It was so nice to be able to go on a vacation with just Alex. We had so much fun in San Diego. We stayed right on the Bay, which was beautiful to wake up each morning to see the Ocean. My favorite memory was we were walking around this cute little shopping area on the streets and this little old man stops us and says, "You guys are the happiest couple here in San Diego, Don't you ever forget that." We made sure to write that down once we got back to our hotel just so that we could always remember that and how happy we make each other. Love my husband so much.

First Surgery.
About a month after we got married Alex woke up at 4:00 am in a ton of pain and feeling very sick. So I went to the store and got him some medicine. Which was laxatives. I thought I was being a good wife and knew exactly what was wrong. Well the medicine was not helping one single ounce, his pain just got worse and worse. He was huddled in a ball in so much pain. I had suggested many times that day that we should go to the doctor to see what was wrong, but being the stubborn husband he is, would not listen to me and say the typical boy response "I'm fine." Well finally at 5:00 pm I talked him into going to the insta-care. We got there and the doctor said we needed to go to the ER immediately and that it was Alex's appendix. Well we get to the ER and they take us back give Alex some pain meds (which he was VERY loopy) and had him drink this chalk stuff that tasted like lemonade so they could do a CT scan. They came back and said they would be with us soon about the results. They came in and said that he would have to go to emergency surgery and that they would come get him in 30 min. I was a wreck. Surgeries always scare me, what if something went wrong? It was hard giving him the last kiss before they wheeled him off. Luckily everything went well with surgery. He was so sweet back in the recovery room, he didn't care about himself, the whole time he kept asking the nurses to get me a pillow, get me a blanket, he even asked if they could get me a bed and making sure that I was ok. (you would think I was the one who had surgery.) He is the sweetest husband ever.

Las Vegas.
In August for my birthday we went to Las Vegas and we saw Lion King. Such a fun first birthday being married. Since then we have been back to Vegas 5 or so times because Alex's dad got a job and moved there. We miss him so much but it is always fun to go and visit him. He has such a beautiful house and a major plus, it has a pool. When we go there we just hang out by the pool the whole time.

Temple.
Every month we go to the temple with 2 amazing couples and great friends. We have made this a tradition which I absolutely love. Last month we went to the Salt Lake Temple and did sealings. We actually got to do the sealings in the exact same room which Alex and I were sealed. It was so fun to be in that room and holding hands thinking of the day we got married in that exact room. I love going to the temple and the spirit that is there.

I love my husband so much and am so grateful for him. We have made so many great memories in this (almost) year and I look forward to the many years to come. I am so glad that I get to spend my life with such an amazing man.

Cars. Cars. Cars. Over-rated.

I really am beginning to think I am just pure bad luck with cars.

My first car broke down on me every single day and it was always either while going through intersections, drive-throughs, our car washes.  And it always worked perfectly fine for everyone else but me. My dad even fixed it one day, drove it EVERYWHERE and it never died on him so he told me to take it for a drive and see how it worked. Well it didn't' get very far. I pulled out of the drive way and it died. That car hated me and I hated it. :) but hey it gave me and all my friends great memories which we will never forget. Good Old Blue Thunder.

My car now goes through tires like none other!! We have to buy new tires for this car normally every 9 months. But other than that my car has been GREAT! (knock on wood)

So in October Alex and I bought a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee which we absolutely love! Only a few problems but we are willing to put up with it.

So a couple months after we got it we were driving to Las Vegas and it was making a really weird noise. So I called my dad (who is a mechanic) and asked him what it could be. It was the engine. My dad then told us that we could not drive our car and that he would come down and put it on a trailer and drive us home. So we ended up having to buy a new engine for our Jeep.

On Sunday Alex and I were driving home from his cousins homecoming in Provo and our Jeep would get stuck in a gear and would not change. So on Monday we planned after work to drive it to a place to get fixed. So Alex picked me up from work in my car and we drove home to pick up the jeep and I was going to follow him in my car up to the auto shop. Well, I get in my car and guess what?! MY CAR WOULDN'T START!!! Just our luck.  I was so mad! Luckily my car was an easy fix and now is working great thanks to my Dad.

We are still waiting to hear back on our Jeep and hopefully get it back soon. For now we are somehow making it work with one car.

Keep your fingers crossed this is our last car troubles for a VERY VERY long time.

Who wants to boycott cars and just go back to the old pioneer way?

To go along with last nights post....

And he strikes again.... Always surprising me. Have  I ever mentioned how much I love this man??

So today I was talking with one of my friends at work and then Kathy from the office walks in and says I have flowers. Seriously he is SO sweet! I don't know how or what I did to get so lucky to have him as my husband. I am so thankful for him and love him so dang much!

                                  One. Lucky. Girl.

A little catching up....

I know I know, I have not blogged in forever! I promise I will be better :) So a little about what has been going on lately...

Most recently, we moved out of our cute little apartment in Cottonwood Heights and moved in with my parents so that we could save money for a down payment on a house! How could we resist? The housing market is amazing right now and you can get great deals out there! So we are pretty excited about that and hope to only be at my parents for about 8-9 months. So grateful for parents that can help us out.

Work is going great for both of us. About a 2 months ago Alex got a new job being a manager at Hugo Boss at City Creek Mall, which he absolutely loves! As for me, we only have like 3 weeks left with the kids and then SUMMER and nannying!

Next month we will be married for ONE YEAR! What?! where has time gone? It is so crazy to think that just a year ago I was planning our wedding, it seems like just yesterday. This year has been the best year of my life thanks to my amazing husband. I am so grateful that I have eternity with him and to have him by my side through everything!
( Just a little bragging about how amazing my husband is.) I have been wanting new clothes for such a long time I just never wanted to go and spend the money when I already have a ton of them but I am so very sick of them. So on Alex's day off he went out shopping and bought me a whole new outfit which was super cute, I was really impressed!  I am so grateful to have such an amazing husband who pays attention to all the little details and still surprises me! This is one of the many  favorite things about my husband, he is always so sweet and thinking of ways to surprise me. When we were dating he used to randomly put flowers on my car while I was at dance. Isn't he the best?? Love this man so much!

Winter Fun :)

There has been so many fun things happening lately! Normally I am not a huge winter type of person, but this winter so far has been pretty fun! It is so fun to spend our first christmas as a married couple and doing things like decorating our first christmas tree and all that fun stuff! This is all the exciting things that we have been up to the past couple of weeks:

The Thomson side of my family always does a Christmas party and santa is always there and brings presents to the children (this was my first year not having to sit on Santa's lap!! one of the many perks of being married) It was so fun to see the kids get so excited to see Santa!

So I work at a school and am a teaching assistant and it is so fun! We just barely had our Christmas performance and it was so stinkin cute! The theme was polar express and they did the whole story with singing and dancing, they were adorable! It's so fun to be around children around the holidays.

Earlier today we played broom hockey!! Funnest thing ever!! This has been one of my dreams for so long, we always wanted to do it for a dance activity in high school but never got around to it. So today Ali and Mike asked us if we wanted to come and play it down at the pond below their house. It was so much fun and very intense! We brought a broom and then a swiffer, they both ended up broken at the end so we had to play with just the sticks. And....... WE WON!!!!!!

To top off the night we ended up watching my niece and nephew which is always so much fun!

                                         Life is GREAT!!!

From the beginning...

So there I was in 8th grade Spanish class being my normal shy self then I had a cute guy, who was in 9th grade, sit next to me and that's where it all started :) We "went out" for about 2 weeks but all that consisted of was writing notes back and forth occasionally.
After that Alex went into high school and we stayed friends and talked every once in awhile. When I got into high school we started dating and we were inseperable from then on. We contined dating after high school and got engaged on our 3 year anniversary which was October 23,2010.
We were married for time and all eternity on June 11,2011. We have been happily married for 5 and a half months now and are enjoying every second of it. Life could not get any better than spending it with your best friend!
